We were all excited to begin our first day of cycling.  We were happy to see blue skies and light winds.

We departed at 9:00 am.  We have only one guide as our other guide had to leave to visit her ailing father.  Good thing we have an experienced guide and an experienced group.

We had an amazing day, riding through beautiful forests, sprawling farmlands and quaint villages.

We stopped along the way at various points to take a break.  When we were ready to stop for a coffee it took awhile for Rikko to find somewhere that was open, due to holiday.  We finally found a little restaurant that could serve us coffee!

We stopped for lunch in the village of Thiel.  This village had a world heritage site, it was an ancient belfry.  We also visited a church that had an amazing wood carved pulpit.  It was wonderful

to sit in this quaint village square and soak up the sun while we enjoyed our lunch.

Our stop mid afternoon was at an ice cream shop.  We all felt that we deserved an ice cream after a day of pedaling! We also stopped to see a traditional Belgium windmill.

We were happy to see the Quo Vadis after pedaling 47 km! The crew loaded up our bikes and we started to move along the canal to our final destination for the night, Kortrijt.  As we cruised along the canal we enjoyed a well earned happy hour!!

Once we got docked for the night we were treated to another delicious dinner.  Then we gathered for our daily “briefing” from our fearless leader!

This is a strawberry dispenser!  For 3 euros you get a basket of perfect and delicious strawberries!

This belfry is in Triel.  It has been designated as a World Heritage Site.

This evening, half of the group still had enough energy to join Rikko on a 40 minute walking tour in Kortrijt.  It was a beautiful evening!

Happy Hour shenanigans!
